Early Years Grant
All 3 and 4 year old are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year.
This applies until they reach compulsory school age. (Usually the term following their fifth birthday)
Free nursery education can take place in:
- Nurseries
- Playgroups
- Pre-school
- Child-minders
Barley Lane Pre-school is a sessional pre-school operating for 38 week and running 2 sessions of 3 hours each every day.
AM Sessions
8:45am to 11:45am
(3 hours each day, 15 hours a week, 38 weeks of the year)
PM Sessions
12:00noon to 3:00pm
(3 hours each day, 15 hours a week, 38 weeks of the year)
When your child qualifies for a free pre-school place
The table shows below when your child will become eligible for their free early learning place:

Standards for Free Early Education Providers
All settings receiving government funding to provide education to 3 to 5 year olds must:
- Be included in their LA’s (local authority) Directory of Providers.
- Help children progress towards the early learning goals set out in the Early Years foundation stage.
- Be inspected regularly by Ofsted.
At Barley Lane Pre-school we are:
- Registered and Listed on the local education authority of Redbridge, and supported by Early Years Pedagogy team of Redbridge regularly.
- We follow EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum) through play based activities and using various resources and move children towards achieving their early learning goals.
- We are regularly inspected by Ofsted.
- In our last Ofsted inspection we were rated as a ‘good’ provider.
