Settling In
At Barley Lane Pre-school, we understand joining a Pre-school for some children can be a very demanding experience. Keeping this in mind, we have devised a flexible and relaxed settling in process.
For the first week of the Pre-school, parents can come in the session every day for one and a half hours, and stay in with the child.
For the second week of the pre-school, parents can come in the session and stay for an hour.
For the third week of the pre-school, parents can come in the session and stay for 15 minutes.
For the fourth week if needed parents can stay, otherwise they should then leave their children with their key person.
Transitioning
We make contact with all the foundation stage/reception years co-ordinators of the Primary schools our children go into.
Next we arrange for the children to spend an hour on a tour of their new school, meeting prospective teachers while there.
We prepare summative report (end of the Early Years Foundation Stage reports) for the schools, which is then handed over to the new reception teacher.
