Food Allergies

Many parents believe that their child is sensitive to certain foods. However the true incidence of food allergy is likely to be much lower than reported.  We encourage Parents requesting special diets for their children because of food allergy  to seek medical advice. It is unwise to restrict food choice among young children without professional help and advice.

Food allergies are common in young children. Cow’s milk is a problem for some infants and young children. Other common allergens include wheat products, peanuts, tree nuts, and eggs. Some young children also have trouble digesting high-fiber foods.

We obtain information about any allergies or intolerances that a child may have from their parent/carer in detail and provide information to parents on the food and drinks we provide.

We provide allergen information about the food  we provide on our menu board in our settings , Parents can access the information from the board and also from our menu listings.

What are the allergens?

There are 14 allergens in the European list. These represent the most common and potent allergens across the EU and these foods are responsible for the majority of the allergic reactions occurring within the food allergic population.
